--KENBO
A brief introduction of the mascot of the 13th WKC


The performance of lion-dancing and sword-waving made for a spectacular event.  The singing and dancing brought the crowd to a thunderous roar.  The mascot in the competition was a little lion cartoon character named KENBO.  The name, KENBO, came from an ancient traditional Chinese lion dance.  The lion, KENBO, represent joyfulness, acceptance, team work, fair competition, friendship and the wishes for world peace all over the world.


The lion is the king of all animals. It is beautiful, majestic and brave.In Chinese culture the lion represents kindness, justice, courtesy, wisdom and honesty all of which of qualities of a king.  KENBO symbolizes optimism and unity.  KENBO shows the dept of his confidence, strength of his personality and the attitude of how to interact with other people.  It represents moral principles and symbolizes good fortune, good health and fearlessness. The original idea of the competition was to pass on the culture of Kendo and to create friendly relationships the people around the world.
